Lehigh County Awards Brenda Michael

When it came time to nominate the Lehigh County “Adoption Worker of the Year,” caseworkers of the Children and Youth office had no hesitation. Brenda Michael, Friendship House Adoption Program Manager for Pottstown, was the unanimous recommendation. Ms. Michael was honored during National Adoption Month when she received the Linda Lofft Award for her “dedication and determined efforts for promoting permanency.” The award is named for the late C&Y supervisor known for “looking outside the box” to take children out of the foster care cycle and place them with adoptive families.

“Last year, we at Pottstown placed two children in adoptive homes, and nearly placed a third,” said Ms. Michael. “I was happy to help move the children to their new families and assist the caseworkers as best I could.” Ms. Michael has served Friendship House for the past 12 years. She resides in Birdsboro with her husband, Cory and their daughters, Courtney and Lauren.
